SHIPPING
We ship using UPS and occasionally the good ole post office. For average orders, rates are as follows:
Ground $10.00 (3 - 7 business days) Second day $20.00 Next day $30.00
These charges will be calculated automatically when you check out.
For large orders, shipping charges may exceed the usual fees - even if the checkout page says differently. In that event, we will contact you in advance and advise you what the shipping charges will be. We will not proceed with your order until we receive an okay from you. So you see, if you're not home to talk with us, things could get held up for quite a while.
Please call to obtain shipping charges for destinations other than the continental United States. We don't ship at all to countries that are shooting at us.
SALES TAX
We collect sales tax for the State of New Jersey for orders shipped to New Jersey. We even turn it in to them.
RETURNS
We cannot accept returns of opened software - except for manufacturing defect - because of issues related to software piracy. In the case of manufacturing defect, exchanges will be made for the same software only. Anything else you purchase from us is returnable within 30 days of purchase with receipt. All packing materials must be included and merchandise must be in "like new," resellable condition. If the materials are missing or the merchandise is less than "like new," we will lop an additional 15% off your refund - not because we're spiteful (though perhaps it could be said that some of us were), but because we can't resell the item and will get stuck with it. If the merchandise is in good shape, so are you: If you paid by credit card, your credit card -- minus 3% because that's what credit card companies charge us.. twice, if you can believe it - - will be credited. If you paid by check, the full amount will be refunded. You pay all shipping for the returns, unless the return is based on defective merchandise or a shipping error on our part. Please call before returning items. We won't give you a hard time - promise.
BILLING PROBLEMS
Should billing problems arise, please get in touch with us immediately. We don't want unhappy customers, and will be happy to try to resolve whatever problems arise. On the other hand, we would prefer not to try to recapture information that's six months old, so be sure to contact us within 90 days. If we made a mistake, we'll make it right - unless it's a mistake involving fifty gazillion dollars, in which case we'll probably flee the country. For a few hundred, it ain't worth it.
The applications presented here are prototypes, not ready-made packages. A flat base fee is assigned to each, determined by the code already in place, but all will require modification to fit your forms, your workflow, etc. We start by asking you for examples of your current work, and go over with you what kind of information goes where. It's a collaborative effort, because we don't know your field, and you don't know Dragon. Then we create a draft version of a program for you to evaluate, based on the original one. Sometimes, when people see what's possible, they change their minds about what they want. So we refine the draft - maybe once, maybe twice, depending on what additional features you want. It's done when you say it's done. If you find any bugs in it, they will be fixed free forever, and usually within 48 hours (better than Microsoft offers, eh?).
We try to give reasonable estimates of the amount of time a program will take, as initially defined by you. It's always more than we estimate - that seems to be the nature of the beast. So our basic practice is to split the difference: We will give you an estimate, add some on to it (usually about 25%), then set a cap at that level. That means that if it goes over the estimate-plus-percentage, that's all you owe. If it's less, you pay the actual amount. If, after seeing the original draft, you decide you want a lot of changes, we'll need to rediscuss the estimate. It's not that we mind working for free, but if we quote you a tiny price for a tiny program, then you change it into a huge program for the same tiny price, we'll go broke and then we won't be in business next year when you need tech support. You wouldn't want THAT, would you?
We will bill you in three stages: (1) a deposit amount equal to the flat fee plus 15% of the estimated remaining cost at the beginning ... (2) followed by an amount equal to the work completed thus far when a draft is completed... (3) then a final payment when everything is finished.
Or....sometimes we just do it differently if it's okay with us and okay with you.
Even if you pay for the work done, VoxScripta still owns the copyright to the program, unless you want to purchase all the rights outright - a whole 'nother story. It is licensed to you for however many users are located in up to three (3) business venues. Licensing is free for the first three, if you have paid for development time beyond the base fee. (If not, it's $100.) For each venue after the third, licensing costs a one-time fee of $100. Three "business venues" means that if you have a law firm with 200 attorneys in one place, you pay nothing. If you have 200 attorneys in four offices, you pay $100. If you ever modify the program, you pay nothing more for using the newer version in all existing licensed locations - just for the time spent to do the work.
This probably sounds very complicated....to us, too. Sometimes we just wing it.
