INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EXAM
Below is a paragraph from an IME completed by an orthopedist using Dragon.  Everything in green font is a variable which can
be changed, deleted, expanded upon, or left untouched.  The user skips from variable to variable, changing each one (or not)
as needed - a process made speedy by use of the
Philips SpeechMike.  Thus, “he did not go to the hospital” can be left as is,
or changed to “he went briefly to the hospital.”  The green “
xx” marks are where something needs inserting – “xx feet tall,” for
example.  The underlined words are where the same information (e.g. “
dateofaccident”) is inserted at multiple locations
throughout the document.

In addition, entire new paragraphs can be inserted by command, each with its own variables.  In the case of a shoulder injury,
for instance, the “Normal Shoulder” paragraph would be summoned and completed.  A knee injury would call for insertion of a
“Normal Knee” paragraph.  What you need is what you get.

Although this IME cannot be purchased in its current configuration, we can easily work with you to create your own.  Any
document that is used repeatedly, with the same basic format and changes occurring primarily in the content, can be set up
this way.
This claimant informs me that he is right-handed.  He is xx feet  inches inches tall and xx  pounds in weight.
He further states that he was
an unrestrained passenger involved in a motor vehicle accident that occurred
on
dateofaccident  at which time he suffered injury to his right knee.  The car was hit in the rear.  He was
seated in the
back of the car.  He denies lacerations or loss of consciousness.  He did not go to a hospital
emergency room from the scene of the accident.  He had
no surgery; he was not hospitalized for any
sequelae to this accident
.  He was treated with physical therapy and chiropractic care..…..
