PHILIPS SPEECHMIKE AIR

Well, it had to happen, didn't it? So many people use SpeechMikes with Dragon® that it
was just a matter of time before the concepts of "handheld" and "wireless" collided. The
result has been most serendipitous. The SpeechMike Air combines all the best features of
the SpeechMike - programmable buttons, mouse control, and excellent audio quality - with
the freedom heretofore only offered with recorders. It's accurate, ergonomic, sturdy, and
offers encryption for those of you who have secrets to keep. The controls are intuitive,
and specifically designed to minimize stress on hands during long periods of dictation.
It comes with a docking station called an AirPort (get it?), a receiver called an AirBridge,
and a carrying case called ... guess what? An AirBag. Also a power supply (what? Not
called AirLine?), USB cables (anagramatically AirBUS), rechargeable battery (AirPower?),
driver and utility software, and a neckband (for fashionistas).
There are three different versions:
- one with a push-button mic (the 3000)
- one with a slide-switch mic (the 3010)
- one with a slide switch, but a separate "record" button (the 3020)
You get up to 7 hours of recording/dictating time with a single charge, which typically
requires about 2.5 hours, and it operates in a range up to about 30 feet.
Ten bucks off the price if you're the first one to figure out a GOOD "air" name for the
software or the neckband.
