Professional quality sound and high-level functionality are what distinguish the ICD-BM1 Digital Voice Recorder. It features up to 347 minutes of recording time on the supplied 16 MB Memory Stick® and a maximum sampling rate of 44.1 kHz. (Different from the rate at which one samples, say, chocolate.) The ICD-BM1 has slide control switch operation, voice e-mail function, Hi/Lo mic sensitivity, built-in microphone and playback speaker, priority setting and digital overwrite/cut function. It is compatible with Dragon Naturally Speaking™ Voice-To-Print Software and has USB connectivity for high speed copying of files to a PC. It will not bark all night or wear your clothes without permission. This is a nice little recorder.
Features
Slide Control Switch Operation (No gears = no transmission. Nice, huh?)
High Quality Sound-“New LPEC Codec”- 44.1khz / 16khz / 8khz Sampling Rate St (Stereo With Optional
External Microphone) / Sp / LP Recording Modes). No CD changer.
Uses Removable Memory Stick Media - Includes a 16mb Memory Stick®. Even has pockets (sans
rivets) to hold extras in.
Up To 347 Minutes Recording Time (LP) with a 16mb Memory Stick. (42 Min. St, 130 Min. Sp,)
You could practically read War and Peace into it and not run out of space. On ST or SP, better pick something shorter, though.... couple menus and a romance novel, maybe.
Compatible with Dragon Naturally Speaking 8. Generally an all-around amenable sort.
USB Connectivity for High Speed Copying Of Files to the PC. For low-speed copying, use the keyboard.
Selective Automatic Folder Copy Function to the PC. We are not sure we know what this means, but it
sounds discriminating.
Digital Overwrite / Cut Function, for when you say what you oughtn't have.
Advanced Digital VOR (Voice Operated Recording) - good for conspiracy theorists who might need to
hide the recorder in a potted plant.
High Value Design with Seamless Aluminum Body. Sort of like unibody construction.
Digital Voice-Up Feature in Voice Editor Software (as opposed to Voice-Down or Voice-Sideways)
User Name & Up to 340 Personally Named Folders (Set Using The PC). It's not clear why anyone would
have 340 personally named folders on a recorder, but hey, takes all kinds. (Or at least we got all kinds.)
Digital Pitch Control in Playback. Means you can do fast playback without sounding like Simon the
chipmunk.
Voice E-Mail Function. Actually sending it is a separate issue.
Incremental Rewind (Easy Search). Easy Find is up to you.
Recording Monitor Function - so you don't dictate 14 pages' worth and then discover the thing was never
set on "record."
Alarm Playback Function ... for naps.
Built In Microphone & Playback Speaker. Subwoofer extra.
Power On/Off Switch (sort of a sine qua non)
Hi / Lo Mic Sensitivity, for those who insist on recording at football games or in demolition zones.
Priority Setting, for people who have trouble setting priorities. Probably won't even need those
management-team workshops anymore.
Earphone And External Microphone Jacks, because it's nobody else's beeswax what you're listening to.
